On September 15, 2025, the Secretariat of the China-Central Asia Mechanism (hereinafter referred to as the "Mechanism Secretariat") convened a symposium at its premises, in collaboration with the China National Association of Metal Material Trade (CAMT, hereinafter referred to as "CAMT") and over ten relevant entities including the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Province, the Department of Commerce of Shaanxi Province, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shaanxi Province, Shaanxi Nonferrous Metals Group, Shaanxi Coal Industry Group, and Shaanxi International Trade and Economic Cooperation Group. The symposium focused on exploring the cooperation prospects between China and Central Asian countries in the field of metal materials, equipment, and products.

During the symposium, representatives from CAMT and the Shaanxi delegation presented the current development status of China’s steel and metal materials industry, reviewed the cooperation achievements with Central Asian countries, and prospected the potential for in-depth collaboration.

Secretary-General Sun Weidong outlined the construction achievements of the China-Central Asia Mechanism and the core functions of the Mechanism Secretariat. He emphasized that the Secretariat will fully leverage its role as a bridge and linkage to facilitate more tangible cooperation outcomes between China and Central Asian countries in sectors such as metal products, support Shaanxi Province in expanding high-level opening-up, and advance the development of the China-Europe Railway Express Economic Circle.

This symposium was oriented toward the implementation of the outcomes of the Second China-Central Asia Summit. It aimed to explore innovative pathways for regional cooperation in the field of metal materials, equipment, and products, and contribute to the high-quality advancement of China-Central Asia cooperation.
