To grasp the pulse of the AI era, promote the deep integration of the metal materials industry with digital intelligent technology, and empower the development of new quality productive forces in the industry, on November 12, 2025, the "'Exploring the New Force of AI - A Visit to Volcano Engine'" investigation and exchange event hosted by China National Association of Metal Material Trade (CAMT) and jointly organized by the Internet and Digitalization Committee under CAMT and Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd., was successfully held at the headquarters of ByteDance Volcano Engine in Beijing.

Chen Leiming, Executive President and Secretary-General of CAMT, relevant leaders and experts from Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd., along with more than 70 representatives from steel supply chain enterprises, Internet companies, and technological innovation enterprises across China, took part in this event. 

The event was hosted by Li Jing, Assistant Secretary-General of CAMT’s Internet and Digitalization Committee.

In the opening address, Chen Leiming, Executive President and Secretary-General of CAMT, emphasized incisively that amid the critical intersection of the ongoing technological revolution and industrial transformation, digital and intelligent transformation has evolved from an "optional initiative" to a "mandatory imperative" for the metal materials circulation industry, as it bears on the sector’s long-term viability and development. He called upon industry enterprises to proactively embrace changes, leverage emerging technologies such as AI to reshape their core competitiveness, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the industry.

In the welcome speech, the Ecosystem Director of Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd. stated that as a cloud service platform under ByteDance, Volcano Engine is dedicated to opening up the growth methodologies, technical tools, and capabilities accumulated during ByteDance’s rapid expansion to external enterprises. He expressed the hope that this event would serve as a starting point for in-depth collaboration with partners in the metal materials industry, to jointly explore the broad prospects of AI enabling the upgrading of traditional industries.

The subsequent keynote speech segment was equally rich in substantive content and featured numerous highlights. Yang He, an expert from Volcano Engine, delivered a presentation entitled “Volcano Engine’s AI Technologies Empowering Enterprise Intelligent Upgrading”, in which he systematically analyzed the company’s cutting-edge AI infrastructure and model service capabilities, and delineated the technical pathways for enterprise intelligent upgrading for the participants.

Subsequently, Mr. Chen Yong, an expert from Volcano Engine, in his presentation titled "Data + AI: A New Driving Force for Enterprise Growth", elaborated through vivid cases on how data and artificial intelligence, as a dual-wheel drive, have become the core engine for enterprises to achieve precise decision-making and business growth.

The practical insights from frontline industry practitioners were equally thought-provoking. Yang Dajun, General Manager of the E-commerce Division at Delin Land Port Supply Chain Services Co., Ltd., presented a sharing session themed “AI + Industrial Internet Empowering the Steel Industry: Solutions and Practices”. Drawing on real-world application scenarios of Delin land Port, he elaborated in detail on how AI technologies have been implemented and operationalized across production, warehousing, logistics, and supply chain collaboration, offering a highly referenceable model for addressing pain points in the industry.

From the perspective of security assurance, Liu Pengbo, an expert at Volcano Engine, delivered a keynote speech themed AI Empowerment: Forging a New Defense Line for Enterprise Data Security. He emphasized the criticality of constructing a robust security infrastructure amid the digital and intelligent transformation process.

Wang Xiao, Senior Director of Volcano Engine, delivered a concluding address. He extended his gratitude to CAMT for establishing the communication platform that facilitated Volcano Engine’s engagement with the steel supply chain industry, and expressed anticipation for more future opportunities for exchanges to spark collaborative initiatives. 

Throughout the afternoon, the conference venue was characterized by dynamic intellectual exchanges and a vibrant atmosphere. In the Q&A and discussion sessions following each presentation, participants actively posed questions and conducted in-depth deliberations with the speakers and fellow attendees on technical specifics, implementation bottlenecks, and future development trends.

During the site visit segment, all conference participants, guided by the staff's commentary, engaged in an immersive experience of the technological allure and innovative culture embodied by ByteDance's products, thereby gaining a tangible perception of the profound transformations driven by AI technologies. The event concluded successfully amid a relaxed and amicable atmosphere of exchange.

Delegates attending the event all expressed that this "Exploring Volcano Engine" activity was not only an eye-opening technological journey but also a practical empowerment trip. It successfully established a high-value communication platform, enabling traditional industries to have a "zero-distance" dialogue with cutting-edge technology, providing a clear direction and strong confidence for the innovation and transformation of the metal materials circulation industry in the AI era.
